Because of the shorter lifespan (relative to humans) of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Internal Medicine Services: Your pets can't tell us what's wrong, therefore our veterinarians are trained to figure out why they aren't feeling well. Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to address your pets' complete health care needs. We are a full service veterinary hospital with extensive capabilities. Common diagnostic problems include vomiting, diarrhea, inappetence, urinary issues, lethargy, coughing or sneezing, and many others.
Surgical Services: Our dedicated positive-pressure surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. Our doctors are well-versed and experienced in a broad range of soft tissue (i.e. reproductive/cancer/abdominal) surgeries. We also have a board-certified surgeon (Kimberly Boswell, DVM, DACVS) who performs specialty surgeries and advanced orthopedic surgeries right here in our St. Joseph hospital. This can eliminate the need for owners having to drive to the veterinary colleges at Michigan State University or Purdue University for complex procedures.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, which is especially important for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, our patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Radiology Services: Our on-site digital x-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. We also have telemedicine capabilities in order to rapidly share complex cases with specialists anywhere in the world.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions, and oral surgery.
Laboratory: Our modern in-house laboratory facilities allow us to perform CBCs, complete serum chemistries, electrolytes, thyroid levels, urinalysis and parasite testing. We can also rapidly test for conditions such as heartworm infection, parvo virus, feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus. All of these tests are now done in our clinic in a matter of minutes. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Permanent identification: We offer microchip implantation, the safest and most reliable identification method for your pets.
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products, and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry special "prescription" diets for certain health conditions. In addition, our unparalleled online pharmacy has over 5000 pet medications available for our clients and their pets.
Individualized Flea & Heartworm Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control parasites in your house, in your yard and on your pet. We can even prescribe topical heartworm medication (instead of flavored treats) for dogs with food allergies.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Boarding: We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.
Bathing: Routine and therapeutic bathing services are available.
Emergency Care: Please call our main telephone number for instructions for after-hour emergencies.
